Marrakech Historical City Tour - Overview

Take a tour through the Moroccan city of Marrakech, it is very famous for its architecture. Marrakech is Morocco’s second largest imperial city, with red ochre buildings and broad avenues lined with palm trees. Take a tour around Djemaa el-Fna, a huge square in the medina overflowing with food stalls and entertainers.

Look out for the Koutoubia Minaret built by Yoaoub el-Mansour in the 12th century. Towering at 70 metres high, the minaret superbly fuses classic Moroccan and Andalucian architectural styles. See the beautiful gardens, the mosque, tiled courts, reception halls and private quarters adorned with carved and painted woodwork of the Bahia Palace in Marrakech, built for Ba Ahmed, son of an advisor to the Alawid ruler, Muhammad IV.

Also in Marrakech, are the 16th century Saadian Tombs built in the Hispano-Moorish style by Saadian ruler, Ahmed the Golden. A tour through Marrakech will make your Moroccan holiday truly memorable!

Marrakech Historical City Tour - Itinerary


Your tour will begin with a pick up from your hotel in Marrakech. Accompanied by an English-speaking guide, you will be taken on a sightseeing tour of Marrakech's old medina and Kasbah begins with a stop at the foot of the Koutoubia Minaret.

You will continue into the 12th century fortress of Kasbah, where you will see the distinctive carved gate Bab Agnaou. Next is a stop at the 16th century monument of the Saadian Tombs, notice the wonderful Hispano-Mauresque architecture surround the burial ground of the royal family.

Walk through the mellah (Jewish quarter) on to visit the aristocratic Bahia Palace, where you will see a large palace with beautifully painted residential rooms and a lush Moorish style garden in the courtyard.

. Finally, a stroll through the famous Jemaa El Fna Square which was the ancient meeting point of the tradesmen in northwest Africa.

At the end of the tour you will return back to your hotel.
